Why Go Social? Embracing Social Media Marketing Over Traditional Advertising Campaigns

As I write this blog, researching statistics, and listening to enthusiastic music in the background, I can’t help but think why aren’t more small businesses utilizing the power of social media?  Currently only 18% of traditional TV campaigns generate a positive return on investment (ROI). What are you, as a business owner waiting for when it comes to finding other alternatives? It’s time to stop wasting your money on traditional marketing campaigns that don’t work and move forward with marketing solutions that do.

I have two types of clients I work with.  There are those that are eager to join the social media revolution and then there are those stuck in using the advertising strategies from a decade ago. If you fall under the category of the latter, this blog is for you.

It’s time to go social and here’s why, social marketing is low cost marketing. Nearly every potential customer is on one or more social networks today. Still not convinced?  A family business owner, Gary Vaynerchuk grew his retail wine business from $4 million to $50 million dollars simply using Social Media.  He discovered that $15,000 spent on direct mail marketing gained him 200 new customers, a $7,500 billboard gained him 300 new customers, and $0.00 on Twitter gained him 1,800 new customers. These numbers speak for themselves towards the power of social media and what it can do for your business.

There are over 300,000 active businesses on Facebook today. Twitter’s search engine receives around 600 million search queries per day and new users of Twitter are signing up at a rate of 300,000 per day.

Social Media is here and it works! If you don’t jump on board, you’re taking a huge risk. Profits could be lost without social media as part of your business marketing plan. So…what are you waiting for?
